Langenhagen, Germany. Data is essential to all aspects of modern life. To ensure high availability, IT infrastructures and data centers must also be protected from physical hazards. Comprehensive fire protection is therefore crucial. The risk of fire is particularly high where electrical and electronic systems are present or where large amounts of heat are generated by air conditioning systems. At the DATA CENTRE WORLD on May 22 and 23, 2024 in Frankfurt/Main, Germany, WAGNER will present solutions for early fire detection and efficient fire prevention and extinguishing at booth F064.
Holistic, system-based fire protection can prevent risks, providing protection for people, the environment and property. Each application has its own risk profile and requires an individual risk analysis and definition of protection goals. "WAGNER develops the optimum fire protection solution to suit the circumstances – for control cabinets or server racks as well as for large data centers, including those offering cloud solutions for companies, institutions, private individuals and governments. Depending on the application, different technologies are used for fire detection, firefighting and/or fire prevention. Comprehensive fire protection can prevent business interruptions and unplanned power outages," explains Alexander Raimund, head of the Frankfurt branch of WAGNER Deutschland GmbH.
The earliest possible fire detection with TITANUS® aspirating smoke detectors enables rapid intervention in the event of a fire, thus preventing serious consequential damage. The aspirating smoke detectors are particularly resistant to false alarms, yet so sensitive that they can detect a cable fire as soon as it starts. Different TITANUS® models allow for integration in small server racks as well as in large data centers.
In the event of an alarm, the FirExting® gas extinguishing system provides an efficient solution for residue-free fire suppression. The extinguishing gases used in the protected area fight the fire by removing either the oxygen or the necessary heat energy. There is no damage from water, water mist or foam. Prolonged downtime is avoided.
WAGNER was the first German supplier to introduce nitrogen as a natural extinguishing gas. With OxyReduct®, the company finally developed the first oxygen reduction system for active fire prevention. The system creates a protected area with a reduced oxygen concentration and thus prevents the development of flames or the spread of fire under defined conditions - even if a cable starts to smoulder.
„OxyReduct® was first installed in a data center in 2000. Since then, oxygen reduction has become the core of the fire protection solution in numerous other IT rooms and data centers.“

These technologies and systems can be integrated into a standardized hazard management system. WAGNER's hazard management system visualizes events from various safety and information systems on a central user interface. "This allows the user to maintain an overview even in hazardous situations and to react appropriately as quickly as possible. For our customers, this is an added value that gives them peace of mind. I look forward to showing all interested parties at the fair in Frankfurt how they can secure their data availability with the right fire protection solution".
The product portfolio of the WAGNER Group GmbH enables holistic fire protection in data centers, IT rooms and IT systems.
