Fire Protection from WAGNER Protects Historical Schlosstheater

TITANUS® aspirating smoke detectors from WAGNER have been protecting the Schlosstheater Celle from fire and fire consequences since 2012 by means of inconspicuous but highly effective fire detection.

Protecting visitors and staff, historic architecture, valuable stage sets and musical instruments safely from flames: TITANUS® aspirating smoke detectors have been performing this task since 2012 after a two-year restoration break in the Schlosstheater Celle, a district town in Lower Saxony.

The project had to reconcile the sophisticated architecture with effective fire protection without compromising the listed building. While the horseshoe-shaped auditorium was built in the 17th century according to the model of Italian stages, the fire protection technology behind the scenes, on the other hand, was to be ultra-modern and safe.

The Schlosstheater Celle is located in the state apartments of the baroque Celle Castle. Founded in 1674, it is today one of the oldest, regularly performed theaters in Europe with a permanent ensemble.

Highly sensitive air sampling smoke detectors continuously take air samples from the ambient air which are then supplied to a sensitive detector module within the air sampling smoke detector. Optical scattered light smoke detectors then analyse the air samples for tiny smoke particles. This enables the earliest possible fire detection and safeguards action can be taken to combat the fire in due time. The system simultaneously provides reliable, very high levels of immunity against false alarms. The horseshoe-shaped auditorium was built on the model of Italian stages of the 17th century.

The four-winged complex is the largest castle in the region of the southern Lüneburg Heath.
In addition to the auditorium, two studio stages as well as the inner courtyard and HALLE 19 are part of the daily programme.
