Decision-makers for recycling firms and production facilities need to rely on fire detectors that provide high-sensitivity detection as early as possible despite the difficult ambient conditions. WAGNER’s TITANUS®-brand air sampling smoke detectors are designed especially for this task.
These false alarm-proof early fire detectors use a pipe system to continuously draw air samples from the monitored area and evaluate them centrally. TITANUS® systems can identify even the smallest particles of smoke in the air (as per EN 54-20), so they can detect fires still in the incipient stage. This head start compared to conventional smoke detectors means that fires can be detected and extinguished while still in the pyrolysis phase, before smoke has become visible.
High ceilings, extreme temperatures, humidity, strong air currents—none of them impede the TITANUS® early fire detection system in any way. That’s what makes this WAGNER fire protection solution absolutely secure against false alarms, despite offering maximum sensitivity. Three things make TITANUS® secure against false alarms: A filter between the pipe system and the detector module prevents dust from reaching the detector and being interpreted as smoke. Intelligent LOGIC·SENSsignal processing compares air samples’ signal paths with known fire patterns, reliably eliminating false alarm scenarios.
And drift compensation ensures that the system’s alarm thresholds can adapt to fluctuations in background concentrations. This absolute fire detection ensures that consistent fire detection is guaranteed at all times.
The use of TITANUS®-brand air sampling smoke detectors for early fire detection is subject to the regulations and guidelines for the installation of hazard detection systems. Above all, DIN VDE Standard 0833, which regulates system planning, installation and operation, is binding. VdS Guideline 2095 also applies. The two regulations also form the basis for WAGNER’s project planning guidelines. For example, project planners need to provide for different detection levels, and maintain maximum distances between air sampling pipes and individual air sampling points. One air sampling point corresponds to one conventional point-type detector; a single air sampling smoke detection system can replace up to 48 such point-type detectors.
Another advantage TITANUS® offers: Unlike point-type fire detectors, early fire detection systems’ evaluation units are installed in easily accessible locations, so they can be checked centrally. In other words, TITANUS® early fire detection systems can be maintained quickly and easily, and thus cost-effectively.
With the TITANUS® family of air sampling smoke detectors in particular, WAGNER has made a name for itself as the leading manufacturer in the area of early fire detection.

When planning fire protection in industrial buildings, fire protection officers / specialist planners must observe the Conference of Building Ministers’ Guidelines for Industrial Construction (IndBauRL), which regulate minimum requirements regarding fire protection in industrial and special-purpose buildings. These guidelines are generally binding, and are published in the individual federal states as “technical construction specifications”. Observance of IndBauRL is the legally safe approach when planning fire protection measures, and ensures faster approval procedures. These guidelines address technical questions related to fire protection and describe, for example, how rescue routes should be configured, which materials are how flammable or fire-resistant (structural fire protection), which fire scenarios should be accounted for when installing extinguishing systems, and which extinguishing agents must be kept on hand.
The OxyReduct® oxygen-reduction system can reduce fire risk actively from the outset, thereby preventing fire and consequential damage, and keeping operating processes going.
Early fire detection can be supplemented with a FirExting® gas extinguishing system, which provides effective, residue-free extinguishing to suppress fires and keep them from spreading.
VisuLAN® risk management makes it possible to monitor and manage a variety of building technology, communications, and security systems centrally. This minimises security risks and operating errors, and makes it possible to take appropriate emergency response action quickly, in order to prevent more serious damage.
