Fire Protection from WAGNER Protects Historical Schlosstheater
TITANUS® aspirating smoke detectors from WAGNER have been protecting the Schlosstheater Celle from fire and fire consequences since 2012 by means of inconspicuous but highly effective fire detection.
Protecting visitors and staff, historic architecture, valuable stage sets and musical instruments safely from flames: TITANUS® aspirating smoke detectors have been performing this task since 2012 after a two-year restoration break in the Schlosstheater Celle, a district town in Lower Saxony.
The project had to reconcile the sophisticated architecture with effective fire protection without compromising the listed building. While the horseshoe-shaped auditorium was built in the 17th century according to the model of Italian stages, the fire protection technology behind the scenes, on the other hand, was to be ultra-modern and safe.
The Schlosstheater Celle is located in the state apartments of the baroque Celle Castle. Founded in 1674, it is today one of the oldest, regularly performed theaters in Europe with a permanent ensemble.
Valuable stage sets and musical instruments must be safely protected against fire and consequential damage caused by fire.
Aesthetic Appeal Unaffected
The highly reliable and false-alarm-proof TITANUS PRO·SENS® air sampling smoke detectors not only protect the 300-seat auditorium at the Schlosstheater Celle, as well as the stage including the drawing loft, but also the roof structure above the auditorium. These systems have also been installed in the theatre’s foyer and the lounge featuring the fireplace at the adjacent “Schlosskönig” [king of the castle] café, providing the audience with refreshments during the interval.
One significant advantage of TITANUS® aspirating smoke detectors compared with conventional smoke detectors is that they can be aesthetically integrated into the architecture without onlookers noticing they are even there. Consequently, low-noise air sampling smoke detectors influence neither the visual nor acoustic properties of this glamorous baroque theatre.
