For four decades, WAGNER has helped shape the development of innovative solutions for early fire detection using aspirating smoke detectors (ASD). What began in the mid-1980s with a clear goal - to detect fires much earlier and more reliably than ever before - marked the launch of WAGNER’s aspirating smoke detection technology. At the time, most systems relied on spot-type smoke detectors that only triggered once visible smoke had developed. Active air sampling, by contrast, made it possible to detect fires at a very early stage; often before smoke was visible.
In 1986, WAGNER unveiled its first in-house developed aspirating smoke detector at Security in Essen, the leading international trade show for safety and fire protection technology. This was a defining moment that set the stage for continued technical innovation and steadily established WAGNER as a technology leader in fire early detection.
WAGNER presents its first aspirating smoke detector for early fire detection at Security 1986.
A key milestone followed in 1995 with the first patent application for an aspirating smoke detector and the registration of the now well-established brand name TITANUS®. This laid the foundation for a product family that has evolved into one of the most powerful systems in early fire detection.
Over the decades, the original solution developed into a flexible system available in a range of models tailored to specific applications. Today, clearly defined versions are available for large and highly demanding monitoring areas, small to mid-sized spaces, server and control cabinets, mobility applications such as rail vehicles, and challenging environments, including deep-freeze areas and contaminated or dusty spaces. With this broad portfolio, WAGNER now offers an ASD solution for virtually any application scenario.
