State-of-the-art water mist technology
Fire suppression in the passenger compartments of trains is of the utmost importance for rail safety. Passenger compartments in all types of rolling stock, including sleeper and couchette cars, are therefore increasingly being equipped with automatic water mist systems for fire suppression. These systems limit the spread of a developing fire until the next possible stop, cool the seat of the fire and its surroundings, and contain smoke development to such an extent that people present can get to safety.
TECHNOLOGY
Water mist systems atomize water into extremely fine droplets for fire suppression. The resulting mist evaporates very quickly upon contact with the fire, thereby drawing heat energy away from the flames. The resulting high cooling effect enables rapid, effective, and at the same time gentle fire suppression with low water consumption. A side effect is that the generation of smoke gases is reduced.
FirExting® Water Mist Compact
Our new, exceptionally compact and flexible water mist system is the ideal solution for many applications. It is based on WAGNER’s unique, time-tested two-phase water mist technology. The key innovative advantage of the new system: the extinguishing agent (water) and the propellant (nitrogen) are combined in a single container. This largely eliminates the need for additional components and complex piping. It also significantly simplifies planning and installation while saving space and weight. The system can be integrated quickly and efficiently.
FirExting® Water Mist Compact is intuitive to use; the containers can be quickly replaced when needed and can be stored in a space-saving manner, just like spare parts. Low installation, maintenance, and operating costs round out the concept. The thoroughly tested compact system is available in various sizes and, thanks to optional heating or insulation, is also suitable for demanding environmental conditions and particularly low temperatures. It complies with ARGE Part 2 and UNI 11565:2021.

FirExting® Water Mist
Our proven FirExting® Water Mist fire suppression system utilizes a unique technology that generates ultra-fine water mist droplets at a low hydraulic pressure of just 8 to 10 bar. This is made possible by the two-phase atomization of the water at the nozzle, whereby a small volume fraction of gas is mixed into the extinguishing agent before it reaches the nozzle. This process produces extremely fine droplets, enabling efficient fire suppression without high pressure. This allows for flexible integration into rolling stock.
